Hollywood: Not Even The ‘Entourage’ House Can Escape a Fire

While every episode may end with bottle service at hot Hollywood clubs and toasts to the good fortune of the boys of Entourage, in real life, things aren’t quite as awesome. The house used for the first two seasons of the HBO show, was spotted with its roof on fire over the weekend.

Perez Hilton reports that a fire broke out atop the Charles Toberman Estate in the Runyon Canyon area. But while much of Los Angeles north of Pasadena is suffering from serious wildfires, this fire appears to have started in the kitchen.

Rome: A Museum Fit For A Pope And A Prince: Rome’s Galleria Doria Pamphilj

When art aficionados plan their trip to Rome, they usually fill their itineraries with popular picks like the Musei Capitolini and the Galleria Borghese. And while those places are nothing to sneeze at, they overshadow one of the city’s best private museums: the Galleria Doria Pamphilj.

At the Doria Pamphilj, you can cross out two sightseeing items on your to-do list, since you get a top-notch collection of art as well as a palace. The 18th-century palace and its collection are owned by the aristocratic Pamphilj family, who have held numerous important posts in the country, including Pope. One of Pope Innocent X’s modern-day descendants, Prince Jonathan Doria Pamphilj, narrates a great free audio tour of the gallery. He provides a unique intimate perspective, explaining how and why the family acquired some works and which ones are his favorite.

Disneyland delays debut of Fantasmic dragon yet again

Disneyland unveiled official photos and video of the new Fantasmic dragon but still has yet to set a date for the 40-foot-tall animatronic’s much-anticipated debut.
Despite top billing, the oft-delayed dragon failed to appear during the Disneyland’s Summer Nightastic promotion — a big black eye for the Anaheim theme park.

Atlanta’s AeroClinic Will Hook You Up With Flu Shots In The Airport

When last we checked in on ATL’s AeroClinic, it had just opened and was offering travelers diagnoses and scripts at $80 a visit. A couple years later and they’ve expanded into the flu shot market. They’re even gearing up to ride swine flu all the way into profitability. Or at least news coverage:

The clinic dispensed about 10,000 flu shots last year, and … the company is offering the shots starting Sept. 15 ‘to accommodate people who want to get a jump-start on flu season.’… Kelly says the AeroClinic hopes to get an allocation of H1N1 flu vaccine when it becomes available, which is estimated around mid-October.

The standard flu shots they’re giving right now cost $35, with H1N1 vaccine pricing to be announced later.

Guilty Pleasures: In Search of the Perfect Pad Thai

Friend of IT Lola Akinmade loves pad thai, and gives us the lowdown on where to grab the best in Northern Virginia.

190532192_5d9a125f00.jpgMaybe it’s the final sprinkling of crushed peanuts that seals the deal or bean sprouts as the only vegetable in the mix alleviating my guilt, one thing is for sure: whatever magic portion this Thai delicacy wields, it has me completely hooked.

The beauty of living in the Washington, D.C. metro area means you’re blessed with instant access to high quality and authentic cuisine from all over the globe right in your backyard. With its sinful stir-fry blend of rice noodles, chili, coriander, fish sauce, egg, and your meat of choice, Pad Thai is the most popular and instantly recognizable Thai dish worldwide. My insatiable need for Pad Thai can be broken down into three distinct scenarios.

Pad Thai for the Journey
It was fate that brought me to Neisha Thai Cuisine in Tyson’s Corner. Heavily frequented by native Thai customers, a clear indication of its authenticity, I stumbled upon this gem during a shopping trip. Its location in McLean and proximity to Washington Dulles International airport meant I could indulge in one pleasure, Pad Thai, en-route to observing another pleasure of mine, travel. Now, each time I head to Dulles to catch an international flight, my excitement is two-fold. A quick stop to stock up on enough Pad Thai to last the entire journey, and the journey itself.

What do you call it when a bunch of pirates get together? Well, call it this fall’s Portland Pirate Festival, which needs your help setting a world recARRRRRd for the most fully dressed pirates in one location.

The salty sea dogs will board Cathedral Park September 19th and 20th for two days of kraken riding, sea chanteys and grog. Watch an exhibition of Samoan fire knife dancing or pirate belly-dancing (which we must see to believe), or play a role-playing game called Pirates of the Cursed Seas. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the gate ($6/$8 for children under 12).
