Monaco is also a motorsports playground hosting the Monte Carlo grand prix and a round of the World Rally championship. Ferocious F1 cars tearing around the narrow twisty streets is truly a sight to behold.

A tiny outpost sandwiched between the southern French and northern Spanish boarders, Andorra houses one of the highest altitude European capitals, Andorra la Vella, also a great place to visit hot springs.

The UK, a small country itself, boasts its own principality, although much higher in land-mass, compared to the others in the list, Wales qualifies as a principality because it is ruled by the English government. Short breaks in Wales and Self catering Wales are very popular Google search terms at the moment as Brits look for cheap holidays in this rugged, unspoiled country.
