Is A Windshield Replacement Needed After There Is A Break?

I had been traveling down the line a couple of weeks back and a stone hit the front windscreen causing a little nick to show up. I didn’t think much of the chip given that it was over the passenger side of my windscreen and soon didn’t remember it was still there. Later this week I stopped in to go to my elders and my father pointed out the crack in my window could easily be fixed. He described how only one or two months back he had got a windshield repair on a crack in his front windscreen and that it was not extremely noticeable right after being fixed.

After leaving my folks home I had become interested in the method of windshield repair vs. windshield replacement and also decided to contact my local auto glass shop for more information. The glass shop ordered me to bring my car in for a preliminary examination of the damage. Prior to taking the auto in for its ‘ initial examination i decided to contact my insurance company and check with them with regards to the method of windshield repair and should I have this performed on my automobile. My insurance corporation said to me that if the crack was little enough for a mend they’d waive my deductible which will keep me from paying out any money towards having my car glass fixed and my glass would be restored to a like new condition.

Happy about the chance of not being forced to spend any money to have my windscreen fixed I chose to drop by my nearest car wash and clean the automobile prior to going to the auto glass shop for the first examination. While at the vehicle wash I was contacted

by an individual named Steve. Steve made sure I knew that he was the on-site windshield repair tech and that he spotted my windscreen had a fracture in it. I made sure he knew that I was in route to have it repaired and that my insurance firm was coughing up for the process. He said that the fracture in my glass was too massive to be repaired and that I would require a complete windshield replacement. Steve didn’t offer windshield replacement solutions and advised that I use a web locator service to locate the best value on my replacement glass.

Recollecting that my insurance company was going to waive my deductible I decided to call them back and find out if they would do the same for a complete replacement. Sorry to point out my insurer described that I’d be answerable for my deductible in this example.

Now that I have to pay out of pocket for my glass to be fixed I decided to return home and get on the internet and explore the keenest price offered for my replacement glass. I stumbled upon a windshield replacement locator service that was very helpful in offering numerous price quotes from numerous firms and allowed me to plan my service on the internet. The firms which were listed in the locator service were all mobile and managed to truly perform the service at almost any location I required.

My new windscreen wound up costing me $225 plus tax which is depressing when it might have been no charge to me had I mended the chip earlier. I think we live and we learn. Down the road I plan to have any crack in my windshield repaired as soon as it happens and would certainly advocate that anyone studying this article do the same.
